After three straight disappointing losses, Appalachian really needs to get their season back on track. Their chances of grabbing a top two seed are diminishing with each game, and gaining a season sweep against Furman could be beneficial down the line. Appalachian is 2.5 games out of second place UNC-Greensboro, and 1.5 games behind third place Samford, and only one half game ahead of fifth place Western Carolina. Appalachian is looking for its tenth win on the season. If the season were to end today, Appalachian would face Charleston or Furman in the first round of the SoCon tournament, who are both currently tied at 6-7 in the SoCon South division.
