  1. BIG WIN!!! 1-0 Shutout @LSU is not something that happens very often. This ranks as one of the best wins in ASU athletics history. GEAUX APPS!!!

  3. Great day for Mountaineers. Big C and company will be in the house Sat. Watch on ESPN3 if you can’t make it.

  4. Appreciated getting the benefit of your analysis during game on Monday. You are spot on with your take of the game.

  5. In addition to the other strong defensive stats, App has not allowed more than 4 runs in any game this year. Their scoring differential is +5.4. After this win the Apps have an RPI of 21, and an SOS of 86. The main reason App is not ranked in the top 50 is due to the weakness of the teams we have played so far. Once we get to Elon we should see those numbers get better.

  6. I believe this is the series that will tell us how good we are and set some expectations for the stretch run.

Great work on the stats research. It seems once we commit that first error, the floodgates follow.

  7. Remember when the ECU game and the Montana game switched weekends because of the SEC scheduling conflicts? That’s why we have to miss it. A wedding was planned around it originally, but no longer is the case. Believe me, it hurts.

  9. actually the last Furman win in Boone was 1996–20-14…Ernest Crosby and Braniff Bonaventure had big days…Dexter Coakley and Joe DiBernardo had big afternoon’s for the ASU defense, but a crucial holding call on Frank Leatherwood, on a long run that got ASU into Furman territory ended up being costly, as ASU came away with no points on the drive…On its final opportunity of the day, Gerard Hardy was hit by Furman defensive end Bryan Dailer and the Paladins recovered the ball and ran out the clock to preserve the six-point win.

  10. No worries…I make them, too…haha…I knew what you meant…App blasted FU in ’94…It was a big day for Damon Scott running the football that day

  11. Disappointed in the loss to Va Tech. This is a team that was dusted by 20 at home to ODU and hadn’t won since January of last year. Anna Freeman had good game but this was an opportunity to beat another ACC team. Seems both ASU b-ball programs are looking for a D1 win.

    • It was an absolute heartbreaker. Should have had a chance for overtime. Tech kept hitting baseline jumpers and we could not rotate on defense.

  12. Let me add a little to your scouting report. Yes, the Griz OL is considered heavy and long-legged. All-American RT Danny Kistler @ 6’8″ and 315 alongside RG Poehls @ 6’8″ and 340. Be interesting to see how the right side of the Griz OL fares. Insofar as leading the way for a Jamal Wilson, a sophomore transfer out of Boise St, @ 5’11 and 238 lbs. It’s Jordan Canada listed as starter, but there’s also in reserve 5-Star transfer out of the Florida Gators, by way of Marshall, Travon Van, along with one of the top two RBs out of the State of Arizona his senior year, Joey Counts. Plus a pair of sophomore WR transfers: Jamall Jones from the Washington Huskies of the PAC-12 and Ellis Henderson from Hawaii. It will be interesting. to say the least. Hope both teams have a good season. Good luck!!!

  14. Wow! What A season. In 44 years of being entertained by the Mountaineers in the game of Football, I have never seen a season just like this one. I Love It!

  15. I was a student at ASU during ’80-’83 seasons. No fun, and no tailgating! ! Great to see to team come together for conference play. Thought the season would be flip-floped. Hail To The Mountaineers! !

  16. Strangely enough, I’m a bit nervous about this game. I do believe App wins, probably big—I just don’t want to see Arbuckle getting into a groove… Defensive pressure and a few good hits on him may do the trick!

  17. I really appreciate the effort you spend to prepare these summations. You are amazingly informed and your readers benefit greatly from you expertise. I always look forward to your write ups.

  18. If we establish Cox, and the stable of backs, in the run game, it will be difficult for them to mount any long term scoring drives. Cox could go over 1,000 yards tonight so he, to me, is the key to success tonight.

  19. Man, that was awesome to read. Black is back. Black end zones have finally returned. White out is behind us with black uniforms this Saturday. We have to protect our house and win this game. 12th man will be the difference. Good guys win.

  20. “If Cox is near 100%, his fresh legs will be a huge advantage for the Mountaineers on Thursday, and for the rest of the season. “… I think a lot of our game planning this season was done with the last half of the season/bowl in mind. Scott has said how beat up we were in the bowl game last year… The best is yet to come form our ’16 Apps.

  21. I am a 2 time ASU alumnus, UNM alumnus and NMSU student, excited that the Mountaineers have finally come within reasonable driving distance of Albuquerque for a game. Hoping for an Appalachian win that is more exciting than a huge a huge blowout. Hi-hi-yikas! Nobody like us, We are the Mountaineers! Go! Fight! Win, Apps!

  22. This game certainly sets the bar for the rest of the season. If App continues to come out flat and uninspired, we are in trouble-not only Saturday but for rest of season. I expect to see a hungry and more focused team. If we are— we win quite comfortably.

  23. Hey big c is there any dress code for the luncheon at the golf course before the GSU? I have been listening to the podcast but haven’t heard that mentioned.
