Duke has suffered losses to Texas twice, Campbell, Canisus twice and George Washington. Duke just finished an eight game home stand and will travel to Western Carolina on Tuesday before playing Appalachian on Wednesday.
Duke lost to Western Carolina on Tuesday Night 12-4. The Blue Devils could only manage eight hits and committed 2 errors. Every Duke pitcher gave up a run while on the mound. Remy Janco was the only Duke pitcher who did not give up an earned run. Western Carolina pounded out 14 hits from 7 different players. Western Carolina scored its 12 runs in five of eight innings they batted.

A midweek record crowd and a school record five double plays helped lead Appalachian to a 6-4 win over ACC foe Duke on Wednesday Night at Smith Stadium. Appalachian scored five runs in the first two innings and fought through a shaky bullpen in the middle innings. Jeffrey Springs (1-0, 3.75) pitched 5 innings giving up two runs to get his first collegiate win. Nathan Hyatt picked up his fifth save of the year facing the minimum in the Duke ninth inning.
The Mountaineers were led offensively by Tyler Tewell (.390, 1 HR, 10 RBI) who picked up three hits and 2 RBI while Daniel Kassouf (.388, 3 HR, 11 RBI) added three hits and an RBI. Tyler Zupcic (.289 1 HR, 12 RBI) hit his first home run of the season with a two-run shot in the second inning. Will Callaway(.326, 8 RBI, 9 SB) also added two hits and stole a base in the winning effort. The Mountaineers did strand thirteen runners but only struck out twice. The Apps are now 5-0 at home this season and have turned thirteen double plays in twelve games. Appalachian has stolen 26 bases this season compared to just three stolen bases by their opponents.
